Grey's Anatomy 10 Famous Actors You Forgot Were In The Series - Screen Rant

Today, many will agree that ABC's Grey's Anatomy is one of the best medical dramas airing right now. Having been around since 2005, it also happens to one of the longest running television shows of all time. Created by Shonda Rhimes, the show has always been known to intertwine personal issues with medical complications, which results in interesting television.

Aside from its main cast, the show has also seen several famous actors make a couple of guest appearances as either the characters' relatives or as patients. However, with seventeen seasons under its belt, it's possible one may not have caught them all.

10 Sarah Paulson

While guest actors on the show often portray patients or someone related to them, there is the odd occasion that they can also play one of the main characters. This was the case for Paulson as in the season six flashback, "The Time Warp," she played a younger version of Meredith's mother, Ellis Grey.

The episode finally answered some questions for fans regarding Ellis' affair with Webber. However, if fans were hoping for her return, they will be highly disappointed. In recent years, Paulson has been a regular fixture in the series, American Horror Story, where she's known for playing several characters, Cordelia, Lana Winters, and Billy Dean.

9 Mandy Moore

In Grey's Anatomy, Moore played the role of a patient named Mary. She first appeared in the season six episode, "Sanctuary," where the hospital was forced to go on lockdown due to an active shooter in the building.

The actor reprised her role in the season seven episode, "That's Me Trying," where she ended up in a coma after a complication in her surgery. Fans would agree that Moore delivered quite a performance during her short stint on the show. Sadly, however, some people have argued that it wouldn't rate as Moore's best performance.

8 Hector Elizondo

Elizondo joined the cast briefly as the father of Dr. Callie Torres, a character who's had one of the more interesting story arcs of the series. As many fans know, Callie and her father had a pretty close relationship. However, their relationship became briefly strained when Callie revealed that she was bisexual and in a relationship with Arizona.

Elizondo's character was seen to be against the relationship at first. However, he does learn to accept his daughter for who she is when he refuses to disown her for marrying Arizona. One could truly see that he wanted the best for his daughter.

7 Seth Green

While most people have often seen Green in comedic roles, such as Austin Powers and Rat Race, Grey's provided him something different. Something that was a little more serious role and allowed fans to see him at his full potential. Some fans may remember that Green played a patient called Nick, who was admitted to the hospital with a tumor in his carotid artery ("Crash Into Me").

While he was there, he was also seen to strike up a bond with Lexie. However, this didn't last very long as a complication arose after his surgery and he sadly bled to death. Since then, Green has continued to do a lot of voice acting for Family Guy and Robot Chicken.

6 Geena Davis

When it was revealed that Academy Award winner Geena Davis joined the show, fans were excited to see what was in store for her. They soon learned that Davis would play fetal surgeon, Dr. Nicole Herman. While most of her arc was seen to be mentoring Arizona, fans were soon shocked to discover that she had been diagnosed with an inoperable tumor.

After the other surgeons hear of her diagnosis, Herman decides to Amelia up on her offer to have the surgery. Although the procedure leaves her blind, Herman was still delighted as it meant that she would now survive. Davis eventually made one last reappearance in season 14 when she proposed to Arizona that they should open a health center together.

5 John Cho

Cho appeared in the season two episode, "Damage Case," as Marshall Stone. After finishing a shift at Mercy West, Marshall fell asleep at the wheel and was involved in a major accident. While Marshall was lucky to only sustain a concussion, the occupants of the other car weren't so fortunate.

One of the victims ended up succumbing to her injuries, which leaves Marshall guilt-ridden. Since then, Cho hasn't reprised his character. However, over the years, he has also done a lot of work on the big screen.

4 Chris O'Donnell

Today, O'Donnell is widely recognized for his role as NCIS Agent G. Callen in CBS' NCIS: Los Angeles. However, there was a time when O'Donnell appeared for a recurring role in Grey's Anatomy. In this medical drama, he portrayed Finn Dandridge, a veterinarian who also became Meredith's love interest.

The actor was asked several times to stay for more episodes, but he told Entertainment Weekly, "From a business standpoint, it wasn't going to be a success for me." Nonetheless, his portrayal of Finn is considered one of his best works.

3 Millie Bobby Brown

Most people would commonly associate Brown with Netflix's Stranger Things and Enola Holmes. However, way back before she was on the show, Brown appeared in this medical drama as a little girl named Ruby in the season 11 episode "I Feel the Earth Move."

The actress later on admitted that she knew little about the show around this time, just that it was really popular. "When I was in it, I kind of knew that it was a big deal," Brown told Interview. "My sister's a big fan so I kind of knew."

2 Tessa Thompson

On Grey's Anatomy, Thompson was cast to play Dr. Webber's niece, Camille, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The actress went on to appear on show's season two for two episodes. However, the role was eventually recast as Thompson went on to become a bonafide film star.

Since last appearing in Grey's Anatomy, Thomspon was has appeared in several Hollywood blockbusters. She was cast as the Asgardian, Valkyrie, in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame. Not only that, but the actress also joined her MCU co-star Chris Hemsworth in the most recent Men in Black film.

1 Leslie Odom Jr.

Odom's small role occurred way back in season five, where he portrayed P.J. Walling. In this episode, P.J. agrees to donate a kidney to another patient after his estranged father offered to pay him $10,000.

However, the two men managed to repair their relationship after P.J. realized that his father was seriously ill, refusing to leave his bedside. Since making a brief appearance in the medical drama, Odom has gone on to star in Broadway hit Hamilton where he sings one the catchiest songs of the show.

Darth Vader actor Dave Prowse dies aged 85 - Al Jazeera English

Posted: 29 Nov 2020 07:26 AM PST

British actor who played arch-villain Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy passed away after a short illness.

Dave Prowse, the British weightlifter-turned-actor who was the body, though not the voice, of arch-villain Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died. He was 85.

Prowse died on Saturday after a short illness, his agent Thomas Bowington said on Sunday.

Born in Bristol, southwest England, in 1935, Prowse was a three-time British weightlifting champion and represented England in weightlifting at the 1962 Commonwealth Games before breaking into movies with roles that emphasised his commanding size, including Frankenstein's monster in a pair of Hammer Studios horror films.

Director George Lucas saw Prowse in a small part in A Clockwork Orange and asked the 6-foot-6-inch (almost 2-metre) actor to audition for the villainous Vader or the Wookie Chewbacca in Star Wars.

Prowse later told the BBC he chose Darth Vader because "you always remember the bad guys".

Physically, Prowse was perfect for the part. His lilting English West Country accent was considered less ideal, and his lines were dubbed by James Earl Jones.

Prowse donned Darth Vader's black armour and helmet for Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983).

He expressed some regret that, thanks to Vader's mask, "I can walk around with complete anonymity."

"All actors crave recognition and I'd like to have some like Luke Skywalker and Han Solo," he told The Associated Press in 1980.

"Fortune tends to follow fame."

Prowse nevertheless remained attached to the character, telling AFP in 2013 that he was "the greatest big-screen villain of all time".

'Rest in peace, Bristol's finest'

Prowse also worked as a trainer for other actors, helping Christopher Reeve prepare to be the Man of Steel in hit 1978 film Superman.

Prowse was also known to a generation of British children as the Green Cross Code Man, a superhero in a series of road safety advertisements during the 1970s and 80s.

He played the role for almost 20 years, and earned an MBE in 2000.

Other film credits include 1972's Minotaur and 1977's Jabberwocky, and he also appeared in many TV shows including The Saint and The Benny Hill Show.

He was a regular at Star Wars fan events, but was banned from official conventions by Lucas in 2010 after the pair fell out.

Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the "Star Wars" films, tweeted that Prowse was "a kind man & much more than Darth Vader".

Hamill said the actor "loved his fans as much as they loved him. #RIP"

"Ant-Man" director Edgar Wright also paid tribute to Prowse on Twitter.

"As a kid Dave Prowse couldn't be more famous to me; stalking along corridors as evil incarnate in the part of Darth Vader & stopping a whole generation of kiddies from being mown down in street as the Green Cross Code man," he wrote.

"Rest in Peace, Bristol's finest."

The Peter Mayhew Foundation, set up in memory of the actor who played Chewbacca, tweeted a picture of Mayhew with Prowse and their co-star Kenny Baker, along with the message: "RIP Dave Prowse."

Prowse is survived by his wife Norma and their three children.

This Famous Actor Called Kate Hudson His 'Worst on-Screen Kiss Ever' - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Posted: 29 Nov 2020 08:50 AM PST

Kate Hudson is rom-com royalty. Over the years, she's starred in many romantic films and has played characters who have had racy escapades and steamy hookups with their on-screen counterparts.

While most of Hudson's former male co-stars have had nothing but good things to say about their experience working with her, one actor didn't speak highly of their romantic encounter on film. In fact, he revealed that his lip-locking scene with Hudson was so bad, he considers it his worst on-screen kiss to date.

Kate Hudson has starred in many romantic films

Hudson has been in a lot of movies. From psychological thrillers to light-hearted and feel-good films, Hudson has demonstrated that she is well-versed in all movie genres. But without a doubt, her most well-trodden film territory is romantic comedy.

Hudson is best known for her roles in rom-coms such as How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, Bride Wars, Something Borrowed, and You, Me & Dupree.

And since she has starred in so many romantic films over the years, the actor has frequently found herself in the position where an on-screen kiss is an expectation of the role she's playing.

From locking lips with John Corbitt in Raising Helen to kissing Billy Crudup in Almost Famous, Hudson has had many steamy scenes and heartwarming moments with her on-screen love interests.

But despite her on-screen romances coming across as convincing, one of those intimate moments was far from enjoyable for one of Hudson's former co-stars, and he previously opened up about that experience on national television.

Dane Cook didn't enjoy kissing Hudson in 'My Best Friend's Girl'

In 2014, Dane Cook — who's best known for his roles in films such as Employee of the Month and Good Luck Chuck — appeared on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he called out Hudson for being his worst on-screen kiss ever.

RELATED: Kate Hudson Had a Breakthrough in Therapy About 'Almost Famous'

Though the pair's kissing scenes in My Best Friend's Girl were rather steamy, locking lips with Hudson was pretty unpleasant for Cook because, according to him, she had bad breath at the time.

"I did a movie with her, My Best Friend's Girl, and I think she purposely ate like a feast of onions before our scene," he told Cohen. "I had to burn her on that one!"

Hudson has also shared her worst on-screen kiss

Like Cook, Hudson has also had pretty subpar kissing scenes with one of her rom-com co-stars and revealed who it was during an appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast on Oct. 13.

As they discussed their best and worst on-screen makeouts, Hudson shared that she did not enjoy her kisses scenes with Matthew McConaughey, noting that all of their on-screen smooches took place during less than desirable circumstances.

"The thing is, every time I kiss McConaughey, it's like, I mean, it's like there's just something happening and there's like snot or wind, or things are just," she told Paltrow as she laughed. "Like when we were kissing in the end of Fool's Gold, we're like in the ocean, we like had the plane crash, he just had snot all over his face."
