Dennis and P.J. met on the set of Our Winning Season in 1978 where they played Paul Morelli and Cindy Hawkins, respectively. They went on to get married in 1978, and later divorced in 1983.

Dennis and Meg met on the set of the 1987 film Innerspace. However, it wasn't until they were back on set together for the remake of D.O.A. in 1988 that the pair fell head over heels for each other.
They got married in February of 1991 and went on to have a son, Jack Quaid, in 1992. Fast forward nine years and the pair finalized their split in 2001, which Meg told InStyle was largely due to Dennis being unfaithful during their marriage.

Dennis and Laura got engaged in October 2019 while they were in Hawaii to promote Dennis's film, Midway, between five and six months after the couple first began dating.
"It happened on the very northernmost point of Oahu, at Turtle Bay," he told Extra in an interview on October 21, 2019. "It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much a surprise."
"I had the ring in my pocket… It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan… I wanted it to be private," Dennis added. He noted that the sun was just right and he was worried the crowd on the beach would ruin his plan, but then everyone dispersed and he had his picture-perfect 10 minutes with his soon-to-be-fiancée.
"She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, 'Will you marry me?' — and then she fell down," Dennis said.
While an exact date hasn't been set, Dennis made it clear that he doesn't plan to wait long.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said, "You've got a year, right? And if you go past a year without getting married, then you're suspect. That's basic etiquette."
This will mark Dennis's fourth marriage—not to mention his largest age deficit. Needless to say, Twitter users had a field day.
