Was Helen Mirren in any of the Harry Potter movies? - HITC - Football, Gaming, Movies, TV, Music

Potterheads unite!

Growing up with Harry Potter meant wanting to go to Hogwarts, to hop onto a Nimbus 2000 and become a Quidditch champion, to venture down Diagon Alley, to chow down on some chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.

The novel series became even more popular with the release of Chris Columbus' adaptation of the first book and we received seven sequels.

Since The Deathly Hallows Part 2 concluded the series in 2011, we have seen the likes of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Sure, they've kept fans immersed in this wonderful world of magic, but arguably nothing can substitute the pure joy of those original eight movies.

Fortunately, audiences have been invited on a trip down memory lane with Hogwarts Tournament, although another project has encouraged some fans to contemplate whether a certain actress featured in the franchise.

Namely, did Helen Mirren ever star in Harry Potter?

Was Helen Mirren in Harry Potter?

No, despite the fact that many legendary performers appeared throughout the franchise, Helen Mirren never appeared in any of the eight movies.

She has entered into the wizarding world in some capacity, at long last, as the host of the quiz show Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses.

Some may be surprised that the 76-year-old English actress never showcased her talents in the series, but interviews with the star suggest that she would've played a role if she was asked to.

Indeed, when having previously discussed the franchise it's clear to see that she's a fan…

"I'm always up for a bit of an adventure"

If you're choosing a host to test Potter fans on their knowledge, it obviously helps to have someone who is passionate about this universe of wizards and muggles.

In this respect, Helen was perhaps perfect for the job and has actually opened up about the opportunity:

"I'm always up for a bit of an adventure. Also, of course, it's a wonderful subject and at a great moment, the 20th anniversary [of The Sorcerer's Stone]. And the very fact I was never in any Harry Potter movies — much to my chagrin, I might add."

She added: "It was a great way to be able to participate in the whole extraordinary phenomena that is Harry Potter."

As for her hosting skills in general, she told Associated Press that she "can certainly play a strict host."

Fans of both the novels and films are thoroughly enjoying it, but soon, a true return is coming to our screens.

Return to Hogwarts streaming explained

Audiences can catch it streaming on HBO Max in the US on New Year's Day, whereas UK fans will be offered it on Sky and NOW on the very same date.
