The Night Agent - What We Know So Far - Looper

According to Deadline, "The Night Agent" is being adapted for the small screen by Shawn Ryan, who is best known for creating the FX police drama "The Shield," as well as developing the CBS series remake of "S.W.A.T." The upcoming Netflix series' first two episodes will be directed by Seth Gordon, who has previously worked on TV shows such as "The Goldbergs" and "For All Mankind," as well as the 2017 film "Baywatch" (via IMDb). Ryan will serve as showrunner for the series.
"The Night Agent" will feature Gabriel Basso as the lead, who was most recently seen as J.D. Vance in the 2020 film "Hillbilly Elegy." In the new series, Basso plays Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent tasked with monitoring a mysterious phone that never goes off — until it does. When Sutherland answers the first call he's ever gotten on the job, a plot begins to quickly unravel that involves plenty of danger, the President of the United States, and now, Sutherland. The show also stars Luciane Buchanan, Hong Chau, DB Woodside, Enrique Murciano, Phoenix Raei, Sarah Desjardins, Fola Evans-Akingbola, and Eve Harlow (via Deadline).
With "The Night Agent" being produced by Netflix, the streaming platform will also air the series, though a release date has yet to be set. Based on precedent, the streaming service is expected to drop the first season all at once when it finally premieres.
