Another season of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black, another must-see cast member. This time around, it's smoldering Aussie model and actor, Ruby Rose.
The 29-year-old stars as inmate Stella Carlin on season 3 of the show and thanks to her performance, her gorgeous androgynous looks and her openness about her gender fluidity – Rose does not prescribe to be any one gender, though she prefers the use of feminine pronouns – the newcomer is making major buzz. Even Justin Bieber is a fan.
Rose sat down with PEOPLE about her character, her sexuality, the love of her life and more.
Was it hard joining such a tight-knit cast?
There were a little bit of nerves. But the second that I got there, I realized they were genuinely excited to bring new people on this crazy journey that they've been traveling on. It's pretty extraordinary. Instead of feeling threatened or bummed out, they've been really excited. There's like zero ego.
Any crazy experiences on set?
Getting ready for my full-on naked scene was pretty intense. I remember it was Monday, I got the script, and halfway through reading it's like my character's naked, and I'm like, 'Oh my God, you're giving me four days to get my body in shape!' I went to Soul Cycle like twice a day and was on a juice cleanse. Everyone was like, 'Ruby, you're not going to be able to make significant change to your body in three days', and I was like, 'Watch me!'
You've been outspoken about being gender fluid, do you feel supported?
There is a big light being shined on something that hasn't really been talked about. We're all really breaking down the whole gender binary system. It's like hold on, I don't identify as this and I don't identify as that, I'm kind of somewhere in the middle and what does that mean? And society is being more supportive than ever before. We've got people like LaVerne [Cox], who has a stellar career and is such an iconic woman and then Caitlyn Jenner getting to be on the cover of Vanity Fair. It's pretty mind-blowing.

You're a lot of people's crush right now, but who's yours?
People get so surprised when I say this and I don't know why, but I have such a girl crush on Taylor Swift. I'm obsessed. I just want to be friends with her, like best friends forever. At photo shoots they always ask what music I want and they think I'm going to say Aerosmith or Metallica, but I'm always like, 'Can I get a little bit of Tay Tay? 1989, please.'
You're engaged! How's wedding planning going?
My fiancée Phoebe [Dahl, granddaughter of author Roald Dahl] and I want to find the time to plan the wedding, but I don't think anyone knew my Orange character would be taken to so well. I think it's going to be next year, but as it turns out, we love being engaged and I love the word fiancée.
So will we get to see Stella again on Season 4?
I don't know, your guess is as good as mine. With Orange, anything can happen!
