Jensen Ackles Confirms Soldier Boy Will Appear in The Boys Spin ... - MovieWeb

Jensen Ackles was a popular addition to Prime Video's The Boys in season 3, and although he seemed to have been taken out of the game by the season finale, it seems that we have not seen the last of his Captain America-esque character Soldier Boy. According to the actor he has already shot his next appearance for a cameo appearance in The Boys spin-off series, Gen V. The actor confirmed his next Soldier Boy outing while speaking with Entertainment Weekly. He said:

"Soldier Boy pops up for a brief moment in this new spin-off of The Boys. In fact, there's a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off. My little bit there was heavily [improvised]. [Eric Kripke] and I were just, like, we were spitballing ideas and workshopping literally in between takes and coming up with a whole variety of takes."

Obviously there is no way of knowing just yet how Soldier Boy will appear in the new series, especially considering his status at the end of The Boys season 3. One theory is that his appearance will be in some kind of archive learning material being used within the college the show is set, but that is something we will just have to wait to find out.

How Does Gen V Tie To The Main Series of The Boys?

Even before Jensen Ackles' comments it had been well noted that Gen V may be setting its focus on a superhero college and exploring the sexual, moral and competitive boundaries of the Supes who attend the college, but that doesn't mean there won't be appearances from some well known characters from The Boys as well.

The first trailer for Gen V revealed that some of those appearing in the new series will be Jessie T. Usher as A Train, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett and P.J. Byrne as Adam Bourke. There have also been many hints given that the likes of Antony Starr's Homelander could also be dropping into the series.

Recent reports also confirmed that Hollywood veteran Clancy Brown joined the series and stars a alongside Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Chance Perdomo, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Shelley Conn, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Sean Patrick Thomas.

So far, everything heard about Gen V has been positive, with many of the stars involved bigging up the spin-off on their social media channels as well as on The Boys official Twitter account. This sentiment certainly seems to have resonated with Prime Video as it seems that a second season is already being planned even before season one has been given a confirmed air date.

However, The Boys has been one of the most popular shows on Prime Video for the last few years, so it is not surprising that the streamer is looking to continue to expand the ultra-violent comic book universe further. Season 4 of the flagship show is already looking like another raucous outing, with Ackles' former co-star Jeffrey Dean Morgan making his debut in the new season and potentially setting up something of a Supernatural reunion.

The Boys season 4 and Gen V are both yet to receive a release date, but will debut on Prime Video sometime in the not too distant future.
