According to the online poll conducted by Empire, 'Star Trek's' Benedict Cumberbatch, 37, beat out 'Twilight's' Robert Pattinson and 'The Hangover's' Bradley Cooper to nab the top spot.

For the ladies, it was 'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson, 23, who beat out her female rivals Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie and Mila Kunis to take the sexiest crown.

In the gentleman's camp, it was a case of good versus evil for the top three.

Cumberbatch plays *SPOLIER ALERT* the evil Khan in 'Star Trek: Into Darkness,' and Tom Hiddleston, who came in at number two, plays Thor's evil brother Loki in the upcoming 'Thor 2'. 'Superman's' Henry Cavill however only came in at number three!

Weep not, Ryan Gosling fans, as the hunky actor who spawned a million 'Hey Girl' memes took out fourth spot. His lack of tights, capes and anything vaguely superhero or sci-fi related probably explains his lower than expected rank.

Actors Hugh Jackman and Chris Hemsworth represented the male Aussie exports, taking out spots nine and six respectively on the men's list, while Aussie actresses Isla Fisher and Cate Blanchett took one for the ladies -- although with significantly lower spots than the gents -- at 46 and 42 respectively on the women's list.
