Johnny Depp Talked About Getting Fame At An Early Age!
The actor is basically talking about being "pigeon-holed". Talking about fame, especially at an early age, the actor had quite some opinions. Stating that he hates fame because of getting pigeon-holed, Depp explained his statements.
In a 1998 interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actor talked about how there is a very honorable reason why he hates fame. Especially talking about young fame, Johnny Depp only felt that it would lead to an actor being pigeonholed in their role.
"The only thing wrong with the teen idol thing is that people label you and they stick you in a spot and they won't let you out of it and I would feel very very ripped off it that would happen to me if I was just stuck in that mold and I couldn't get out of it."
He further continued,
"The least important thing to me is becoming famous and being well known and you know trying to be everybody's hero. That's not what I'm about."
In a different interview, Depp talked about how he wanted to work with his icon in a 1995 film even though he knew that the film would turn out to be a disaster.

Back in 1995, the actor starred in a film titled Nick of Time. Starring alongside Christopher Walken with a budget of $33 million, the film was a huge flop. Receiving average ratings, the movie was considered a failure, but Depp did not care. In an interview with the Gainesville Sun, Johnny Depp mentioned how he did not care for the money, but simply wanted to star alongside Walken.
"I did that film not for money or not to sell out. I didn't think it was going to be successful at all. I didn't care," he explained. "I did it because I wanted to work with Christopher Walken and I wanted to work with John Badham."
Receiving a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDB and an average of 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie only earned a meager $8 million at the global box office. The film is available to stream on Paramount+ Apple TV in the U.S.
